Ronaldo Lima Jr. is a professor at the Department of English Language Studies, its Literatures and Translation at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). He works in the Postgraduate Program in Linguistics, and is leader of the Phonetics and Multilingualism Laboratory (LabFoM). He has a bachelor’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in English Language, a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and a doctorate in Linguistics, all from the University of Brasília (UnB); and did a postdoctoral internship at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). He is mainly interested in the areas of phonological development of non-native languages, acoustic phonetics, and quantitative data analysis.

Professor permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Língua e Cultura (PPGLinC) e professor Adjunto da Área de Língua Inglesa da Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA). Graduado em Letras Inglês e Literaturas de Língua Inglesa (Licenciatura) pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, em Ciências da Linguagem (Bacharelado) pela University of Nottingham, Inglaterra, aperfeiçoado em Ensino e Aprendizagem de Línguas pela University of Birmingham, Inglaterra, e Mestre em Letras (Estudos Linguísticos) pela UFSM. Doutor em Letras (Psicolinguística) pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS, com período sanduíche na University College London, Inglaterra. Líder do Laboratório de Ciências da Fala (LAFALA – UFBA) e membro do Laboratório de Bilinguismo e Cognição (LABICO – UFRGS). Atua, ainda, nos seguintes grupos de pesquisa (CNPq): Dinâmica Fônica (DINAFON, UNICAMP) e Fonética e Fonologia Aplicadas à Língua Estrangeira (NUPFFALE, UFSC). Além do ensino de línguas não nativas e da formação de professores, tem como principais interesses de trabalho a Fonologia de Laboratório e a Fonética Experimental; a Aquisição e a Perda da Linguagem em abordagens cognitivas, dinâmicas e/ou ecológicas; e o Bi/Multilinguismo. Avaliador do Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Superior (BASIs/INEP).

PhD in Linguistics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). He has carried out postdoctoral studies (CNPq) at the Université de Paris XII-Val-de-Marne and the Université de Paris X-Nanterre (CAPES). He is currently a full professor of Linguistics and Portuguese in the undergraduate course in Letters at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and professor and advisor in the Graduate Program in Letters at the same university. He is a PQ-CNPQ researcher.

Associate Professor at the Department of Linguistics, Philology and Literary Theory and at the Graduate Program in Letters at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS. He graduated in Portuguese Letters and Portuguese / English Letters from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos-Unisinos (2001); is a specialist in Portuguese Language Structures from the Lutheran University of Brazil – ULBRA (2002); and completed his Masters (2005) and Doctorate (2009) in Linguistics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul – PUCRS; he did Post-Doctorate at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul-UFRGS, under the guidance of Sergio Menuzzi (2009-2010), and at the State University of Campinas-Unicamp (2017-2018), under the guidance of Sonia Cyrino. He is also editor of the Virtual Journal of Language Studies-ReVEL (ISSN 1678-8931, www.revel.inf.br, together with Cassiano R. Haag and Cândida M. Selau Leite) since 2003; he has been coordinator of the Linguistics Collection at Editora Vozes (along with Sergio Menuzzi), since 2014; and editor of Editora da ABRALIN (along with Valdir do Nascimento Flores), since 2020. He is the creator of the Syntactic Observatory of Brazilian Portuguese (https://sites.google.com/view/ospb/), together with Eduardo Kenedy (UFF) ), Leonel F. de Alencar (UFC) and Marcus V. Lunguinho (UnB). He works in the areas of syntax (and its interface with semantics, informational structure and prosody), grammar of Brazilian Portuguese, history of linguistics and Optimality Theory.
