The event
Abralin has been a pioneer in the Open Science movement by adopting an open access policy, encouraging the publication of preprints in public platforms, and sharing analysis data sets, instruments, statistical analysis scripts, scripts, and additional materials in open repositories. Moreover, the evaluation process of all Abralin’s publications is double-unblinded: the author(s) and the reviewers are not anonymous to each other. However, being part of the Open Science movement has inspired us to reflect on the consequences of such practices. It is of paramount importance to discuss and adequately respond to ethical and copyright issues, challenges to replication, and issues of originality and innovation, as well as costs (publication, availability of access and data, financing of research). The problems encountered in the field of linguistics extend to other areas of the humanities, and are not limited to Brazilian researchers. Therefore, we propose discussing the “Challenges of Linguistics in Open Science,” and accordingly, Abralin will place Brazilian linguistics at the forefront and in a leading position in the international academic community.
All InterAb12 activities will be broadcast on Abralin’s YouTube channel with free and open access to everyone.
Activities
Abralin members will propose the program of the event by submitting proposals for the event. The proposers can apply to organize a panel session or give oral presentations and digital video posters. Papers for oral presentation and video posters will be selected by Abralin’s thematic committees. The participants can also take part in panel sessions. Moreover, The Abralin award will take place during InterAb12.
