Associate Professor at the Department of Linguistics, Philology and Literary Theory and at the Graduate Program in Letters at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS. He graduated in Portuguese Letters and Portuguese / English Letters from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos-Unisinos (2001); is a specialist in Portuguese Language Structures from the Lutheran University of Brazil – ULBRA (2002); and completed his Masters (2005) and Doctorate (2009) in Linguistics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul – PUCRS; he did Post-Doctorate at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul-UFRGS, under the guidance of Sergio Menuzzi (2009-2010), and at the State University of Campinas-Unicamp (2017-2018), under the guidance of Sonia Cyrino. He is also editor of the Virtual Journal of Language Studies-ReVEL (ISSN 1678-8931, www.revel.inf.br, together with Cassiano R. Haag and Cândida M. Selau Leite) since 2003; he has been coordinator of the Linguistics Collection at Editora Vozes (along with Sergio Menuzzi), since 2014; and editor of Editora da ABRALIN (along with Valdir do Nascimento Flores), since 2020. He is the creator of the Syntactic Observatory of Brazilian Portuguese (https://sites.google.com/view/ospb/), together with Eduardo Kenedy (UFF) ), Leonel F. de Alencar (UFC) and Marcus V. Lunguinho (UnB). He works in the areas of syntax (and its interface with semantics, informational structure and prosody), grammar of Brazilian Portuguese, history of linguistics and Optimality Theory.
